Biscuit Day

It always falls on May 29 every year.

Biscuits are one of the most popular snacks in the world. They appeared before the civil war and were cheap, also because they did not use yeast. They could be done quickly and added to any food. Alexander P. Ashboume patented the first biscuit cutter in 1875.

Mostly at sea, there was a need for nutritional, easy-to-store and long-lasting foods. Originally, this problem was solved by the cook who prepared the food, but it took up more space. With the introduction of baking processed cereals, including flour production, it was a reliable source of food. The Egyptian sailors wore a flat, crisp loaf of bread, and the Romans had crackers again. In earlier times, doctors believed that consuming biscuits would help health and disease avoidance every day.

It is mostly made from flour, baking powder, salt, buttermilk or milk, butter and also sugar. They can be sweet, salty, spicy. They can be with a cream in the middle (sandwich) or with jam. You can add nuts, ginger, chocolate, coconut, jam and other ingredients. Salty biscuits are usually made with cheese, seeds, onions, poppy seeds. Cookies can be eaten separately or added to the recipe. They can eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
