It always falls on April 2 every year.

Promotes a children's book and authors. It organizes events within the program of schools and libraries around the world to read children. IBBY was founded in 1953 in Zurich, Switzerland and has about 75 national sections worldwide.

It has been celebrated since 1967 on the day of Hans Christian Andersen's birth (2.4.1805 - 4.8.1875).

The most prestigious award is given every 2 years, the Hans Christian Andersen Prize. It is awarded to the author and illustrator whose works have contributed to children's literature.

This day, many bookshops, libraries, schools organize storytelling workshops and book reading events with children's book authors.

Children's books help bring imagination to life, inspire them and encourage them to use their minds.

The goal is to inspire love to read and highlight children's books. Encourage literacy and encourage children to imagine them.
