The Day of Margarita

It always falls on February 22 every year.

There are many stories that began in 1938 about how margarita originated. One of the most likely ones is that the owner of Rancho La Gloria Carlos Herrera restaurant in 1938 invented this drink.

Others say the beverage invented Don Carlos Orozco in October 1941. He worked as a bartender at a restaurant in Mexico, where the daughter of German ambassador Margarita Henkel came and asked for a special drink. She had a margarita-like drink, and made a salt crust on the glass, and named it Margarita.

These stories of origin may or may not be taken into account, but surely, the first published recipe was in Esquire in December 1958. The drink began to spread across North America. The mass popularity of this beverage was experienced 20 years later when the musician Jimmy Buffett released the song Margaritaville.

Margarita is a cocktail made of tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice served with salt at the edge of the glass. Also made frozen margarita.

Margarita means daisy in Spanish.

The aim of this day is to appreciate the tequila-based alcoholic beverage margarit.

The best way to celebrate this day is to give Margarita.
